Many adults aged 65 and over, spend on average, 10 hours or more each day sitting or lying down, making them the most sedentary age group. They are paying a high price for their inactivity, with higher rates of falls, obesity, heart disease, and early death compared to the general population.

Our exercises class is all chair based using body weight exercises, we start with a warm up, then move on to the main exercises which uses all muscle groups in the body, then we finish with a cool down including full body stretches

My top 10 tips for a healthy Christmas!


 

You can still enjoy the Christmas period without having too much impact on your health or your waist line

 

1)- Cut down on the alcohol

This maybe hard for some of you, Still enjoy yourself just don't go crazy.don’t over do it on the empty calories.

 

2) - Move more

Make an effort to go for a walk, enjoy some fresh air, nothing better then a nice Christmas walk with your loved ones, this will help your body digest your meals.

 

3) - Don’t over eat

Portion control goes out the window over Christmas – don’t let it. think about what your eating! (Don't go crazy)

 

4) - Eat Fruit /Vegetables

Make sure you keep your vitamin levels up.Have some extra fruit instead of the sweets or chocolate, you will feel better for it.

 

5) - Exercise daily

Do some sort of exercise every day. Try not to watch back to back DVD's - If you not sure what exercises to do - Just ask me, I have 1000's you can do a Home :)

 

6) - Drink water

Keep yourself hydrated and drink water every day. Aim to drink a glass of water before every meal, this will help you stay on track.

 

7) - Don’t over snack

Think about what you’re putting in your mouth, don’t just eat it because it's there.

 

8) - Don’t stress

Make sure you plan and enjoy the festive period. It can be a stressful time for some people, so make sure you plan a head to reduce stress levels.

 

9) - Don’t eat in front to the TV

Make sure you register what you have eaten. Turn the TV off and enjoy your food and let your body register you have eaten.

 

10) - Eat slowly

It's takes 20 minutes for the brain to resister that your stomach is full. Give your body chance to realise you are full, before eating again.
